Destroy the World

The Destroy the World plot usually involves attempting to carry out some sort of ritual which, if it succeeds, would cause the end of the world. E.g. you successfully summon Cthulu, or are in fact the four horsemen of the apocalypse, or would set off the nukes. Although what constitutes "the end of the world" varies from setting to setting, a good litmus test is to see whether or not the average character cares about this plot not succeeding. If they would like to stop it, then it's a destroy the world plot. (But not, for example, a game about mad scientists with multifarious schemes about how to take over the world.)
